I have come to love archery, but sometimes you want to do more than just shoot. It makes it much more interesting when you can turn it into new games and competitions. Below are a list of a few games that others have come up with for archery that are pretty fun and worth checking out. To easily do these we would suggest picking up an archery game cube. They contain several games for you to play.
- Tic Tac Toe. You should know how to play this. Both players take turns shooting at the square they want. Just make sure that you hit your target, or you could lose the game.
- Blackjack. Line up some cards and take turns shooting at the cards you want. The best hand wins. Make sure to make it a bit hard to hit the cards. You want to be sure that the players get some cards they don’t want. It makes the game much more interesting this way.
- Darts. You should know how to play darts. Just apply this to archery now. This is a play off of traditional archery target shooting, so you should have no problem playing this one. Make sure sure you get close to the mark though.
- Archery tag. Do you remember playing tag as a kid? I certainly do. So why not put foam on the arrow tips and start playing tag? This can be incredibly fun if you get a good group of people together. While it is called tag, it is played more like dodgeball. You have to sides that shoot at each other. With the traditional style, if you get hit then you are out. You can come back in once one of your teammates catches an arrow, or hits one of the opponents targets behind them. You also have a point style rule system for tournaments. With this you are awarded points for player and target hits. The team with the highest points wins.
I hope this gives you some ideas for spicing up your archery life. I have found recurve bows to be great for these types of games, especially archery tag. There are many recurve bow reviews on Amazon out there so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a bow that is appropriate for these games. Whichever you chose, I’m sure you will have a fun time!
